A Resolution Appointing Rubin Cleaveland
as Interim Municipal Court Judge

 The City Council for the City of Hood River adopts the following findings:

 WHEREAS, in Hood River, the Municipal Court Judge is an appointed City Officer position, pursuant to Charter Sections 10 and 21, appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council; and

 WHEREAS, Willford Carey, the City’s long-standing Municipal Judge recently passed away, creating a vacancy on the Municipal Court bench; and

 WHEREAS, Rubin Cleaveland has served as Municipal Judge pro tempore for several years; and

 WHEREAS, the Mayor desires to appoint Ruben Cleaveland to serve as interim Municipal Judge during the period in which the City conducts a search for a permanent Municipal Judge; and

 WHEREAS, Charter Section 21 requires Council consent for the Mayor’s appointment of the Municipal Judge.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Hood River City Council that Ruben Cleaveland is hereby confirmed to serve as interim Municipal Judge until such time as a permanent Municipal Judge is appointed and confirmed, unless otherwise directed by the Council.
